Animal Abuse

There's been some discussion, after our posts on PETA. I'd like to respond in phases, because several issues were raised. First I'd like to point to this PETA release about an animal hoarder:
McVay faces 246 charges stemming from authorities’ reported June 23 discovery of as many as 123 gravely ill cats—whom she evidently claimed to have "rescued"—along with the remains of 13 others, including one decomposing carcass under a couch, inside her filthy home, which reportedly reeked of ammonia. News sources state that the survivors—at least 18 of whom have since been euthanized—suffered ailments including flea infestation, missing hair, dental problems, and upper respiratory infections. An Idaho Humane Society representative told news sources that virtually every surface inside the house was covered in cat feces and urine
This is of course an extreme case. But even in the matter of the 'ownership' ('ownership'?) of pets, there are innumerable cases of abuse and neglect. One morning last week I saw two Labradors being walked on the road. They were trying to sniff at something under a plant. Their handler pulled at their leashes roughly, so roughly that the dogs almost choked, and walked off, dragging the dogs behind him.

At Jeev Raksha, too, I saw a beautiful dog that had been abandoned there by his 'owners' after he got maggots all over, on his flanks and his nose. Pet ownership isn't always a matter of cuddly, feel-good, playing-with-the-kiddies sentiments. Often the most disheartening abuse of animal rights happens with pets.

What can be done? More later.

Cruelty to Cows in India:

I have been to India and was so shocked to see the tteatment of cows..In Gujarat Cows are on the streets eating plastic rubbish of bags, crap which people just throw on the streets and Gujarat govt cant be bothered to do anything about it...

Then there is the PETA India report of Leather trade...

I cannot believe the Indian govt turn a blind eye to this and blame corruption...this is India..Land of the Vedas, where Lord Krishna, the protector of all cows was born, is treating Mother Cow like this...all the suffering and yet the people of India turn a blind eye..

Amul dairy...how they stuff antibotics to the cows up the backside so she will constantly produce Milk...the treatment is cruel yet Amul dairy is expanding but at who's cost????

Yet you have Hindu's praying to god, going to temple's but they cannot do one thing and protect the cows or treat them with COMPASSION AND RESPECT

India wants to be a Super power but it never will as it expliots its people and animals....

To all the film star's making their millions, taking coke who just want greed and fame...why don't you do something about this or about the way your country treats its people...

Mumabi is a Joke cause on one hand you have people barely surviving and on the other, Rich film and music stars, spoilt rich kids exploiting them...

But whatever happens Bob Marley did say "what comes around goes around", and Hindu's scriptures mention Karma and so did Sharon Stone...

Hello,
I wanted to report a gross mistreatment of animals which is happening in Hogenakkal,TN,India. I looked everywhere to see if there are proper websites providing for the same. Since I couldn't find any, I am posting this here(hoping that you'll be able to do something about it).
There's a 'Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre' in Hogenakkal. I happened to visit that place recently and I found the animals there in the most pathetic condition possible. Most of them were injured and I am not sure if they are fed well. It's downright cruelty. Apart from these, there was also one seal(which I am not sure how they got), which was in a bad condition and it seemed to be in lot of distress.
I hope you'll take this seriously and at least inform your contacts to check it out. Please.

Thank you.

I don’t know whether this is the right platform for me to put forward my plea. Am not sure whether u guys’ have helped any other such cases (previous comment in account -turtle in a bucket).
My concern is based on a pet shop near Moolchand hospital-Stall No - 14, Lajpat Nagar –III, New Delhi, Pin no-110024

Yesterday (17/05/2010), when I was passing by that route around 2:30pm, the temperature outside was about 44-45 degrees C and it was so hot it could blast ur mind! I saw several birds caged and kept outside the pet shop (to bask under the scorching sun) whilst the owner/keeper was inside the air-conditioned shop. My eyes caught sight of a beautiful White-capped Parrot amongst all the bird that was left outside..a wretched- miserable life for a bird so beautiful not only to be caged but to bear the torment of such an unbearable Delhi summer heat! If setting them free is not an option…Couldn’t they be kept more comfortably...a little more care and kindness…PLEASE PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABT IT!!! PLEASE HELP!

To be a upright lenient being is to procure a amiable of openness to the mankind, an ability to guardianship unsure things beyond your own pilot, that can govern you to be shattered in hugely outermost circumstances pro which you were not to blame. That says something very weighty about the condition of the ethical life: that it is based on a corporation in the fitful and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a plant than like a jewel, something kind of dainty, but whose acutely item handsomeness is inseparable from that fragility.

We stay in Vidhyadhar Nagar Jaipur. Today 30th June 2012 a car (Silver coloured Santro) hit a dog on the street in front of our house. Before we could stop the car, it picked up speed and left the dog terribly wounded and heavily bleeding on the road. We noted the no. in this hurry what we could register from the moving vehicle was JK 14 1371 and that there was a fat person driving it. Its important a strict action is taken against people like these who are so heartless and brutal. People like these behind wheels are threat to all. They are hurting animals tomorrow they might go on hurting people.
We also tried calling 100 but the msg says this no. does not exist. We don’t know whom to approach for help ?????
